The Oregon Vietnamese Community Association (OVCA) would like to invite you to attend our annual Tet in Portland festival to celebrate the year of the Rat. This is an event that brings our Vietnamese and local communities together both young and old to celebrate the New Year. This year it will be held again at the Oregon Convention Center on February 2 and 3. Last year, there were approximately 12-15,000 people. We had the honor of Portland Mayor Tom Potter and City Commissioner Sam Adams’ presence to help us celebrate and bring in the Year of the Rat.

To this day, many are unaware there is another Vietnamese flag—one which stands for freedom, pride, and hope instead of a reminder of all that was stolen—the Freedom and Heritage Flag. This flag has long represented the history of Vietnam as a symbol for democracy.
